This is my musical identity slide talking about the music that I love, and the types of music and mediums of music that I would take part in.
For the Cultural Practices Journal, we recorded our experiences and learning while we went through various classes of experiencing and learning about different cultures of music.
These mini challenges are a group project in class, where we learn from ear a song in one genre for part 1, and perform it as authentically as we can. For part 2, we are taking that song from that culture, picking a second one from another culture, and then comparing and contrasting them before combining them into one song in a mixed genre mashup song. For my group, we chose the song Sissy Strut (New Orleans Funk), and mashed it with an Irish Jig style. In both performances I play the EWI (Electric Wind Instrument) This was an amazing collaboration of ideas and creativity between our group and the final product of both songs is amazing to listen to!
